Work-and-Learn Program in Infrastructure Technology

Are you a motivated candidate who wants to learn new skills through a work-and-learn program at Stedin? Then sign up now!

About Stedin

Stedin is a major network company in the Netherlands, responsible for managing and maintaining the electricity and gas networks across large parts of the country. Stedin is committed to building a sustainable future and plays an important role in the energy transition — for example, by promoting renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power and supporting the shift toward a more sustainable energy system.

The Work-and-Learn Program at Stedin

In February 2026, Stedin’s Service Team Operations (STO) will launch a work-and-learn program in which candidates will be trained to become Assistant Technicians.
You will take classes in Dutch, technical language, and practical skills. You will also learn everything about electrical safety and obtain the necessary certifications (such as VCA).

Once you complete this program, you will start the Level 3 Vocational Training for First Technician in Low- and Medium-Voltage Distribution — where you will continue to work and study at the same time.

Your week will include both theory and practical lessons in Stedin’s on-site training workshop. The other three working days, you will work alongside experienced technicians who will guide you through the trade. You will learn how to install Smart Meters and make adjustments in meter boxes. In addition, you will take part in assembly and excavation work in the distribution networks. During your work, you will have frequent contact with customers and colleagues.

What We Expect From You

  • You have an MBO level 4 diploma and/or a bachelor’s degree in electrical or gas engineering, and you are eager to learn new things.
  • Your Dutch language level is B1 or higher.
  • You have a valid residence permit or receive temporary EU protection (for example, Ukrainian nationals).
  • Preferably, you hold a valid Dutch driver’s license.
  • You live in the The Hague or Rotterdam area and are able to work flexible hours (including evenings and weekends).
  • You can provide a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG).

Important Information

  • The program starts on 1 February 2026.
