About Stedin
Stedin is a major network company in the Netherlands, responsible for managing and maintaining the electricity and gas networks across large parts of the country. Stedin is committed to building a sustainable future and plays an important role in the energy transition — for example, by promoting renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power and supporting the shift toward a more sustainable energy system.
The Work-Learn Program at Stedin
In February 2026, a work-learn program will start at the Service Team Operations (STO), where candidates will be trained to become assistant technicians. You will take classes in Dutch, technical language, and practical skills. You’ll also learn everything about working safely with gas and electricity and earn the necessary certificates (such as VCA). During this 7-month program, you will work four days a week (Fridays off).
Once you’ve completed this, you will start the Level 2 Technician training in Gas or Electricity, combining work and study!
Your weekly schedule: You’ll have one day of theory classes and one day of practical training in a workshop at Stedin. The other three days you’ll work alongside experienced technicians, who will help you learn the trade. You’ll learn how to install Smart Meters and make adjustments to fuse boxes. You’ll also be involved in excavation and installation work on the distribution networks. While working, you’ll have plenty of contact with customers and colleagues.
What is expected from you:
- You have an MBO Level 4 and/or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Gas Engineering.
- You have an interest in technology, enjoy hands-on work, and like learning new things.
- Your Dutch language level is B1 or higher.
- You have a valid residence permit or temporary EU protection status (for example, for Ukrainians).
- Preferably, you have a valid Dutch driver’s license. If not, we’ll help you obtain one during the program.
- You live in the area of The Hague or Rotterdam (maximum 30 minutes travel time).
- You are available for variable working hours, including evenings or weekends.
- You can provide a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG).
Important to know:
- The selection day takes place on Friday, January 9, 2026, in Rotterdam.
