Water Engineering Academy (12-week training program)
TAUW, Sweco, Royal HaskoningDHV, and Refugee Talent Hub launch the very first Water Engineering Academy! This is a 12-week training program specially designed for technical talent with a refugee background, focused on the field of water engineering. About the Water Engineering Academy:
The Water Engineering Academy is a 12-week, part-time program focused on water engineering, covering topics like water & soil, drinking water, industrial water, and climate adaptation. During the program, the participating companies will deliver six technical trainings on these subjects. Alongside these technical trainings, the program includes a job application skills workshop and five soft-skills trainings, covering areas such as project-based working, client interaction, and intercultural collaboration.
Note: The technical trainings will be conducted in English, while the soft-skills trainings will be in Dutch.
What will you gain from the program?
In this program, you will not only receive technical training in water management and engineering but also develop various soft skills. You will build a network within your field by connecting with fellow participants and employees from the participating companies. Throughout the program, you’ll receive personal guidance from a mentor (a business professional from one of the partners), allowing you to gain deeper insights into both the companies and the sector!
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for motivated talents who:
- Hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in—or closely related to—water engineering/water management (a master’s degree is not required)
- Have at least B2-level proficiency in English
- Have at least B1-level proficiency in Dutch
- Have a passion for water engineering
- Are eager to learn: a strong internal motivation is essential for success in this program
- Are available to attend all mandatory events (dates listed below)
- Are statusholders (with a valid residence permit)
Important Dates:
If you apply, we expect you to attend ALL the events listed below. Please make sure you are available on these dates.
- Information Session: Monday, January 20, 9:30 – 10:30 AM (online). Selected candidates will attend an information session to receive more in-depth information about the program.
- Kick-off: Tuesday, January 21, 3:00 – 6:00 PM (in-person). During this celebratory kick-off, you will meet your mentor and start the program together.
- Technical and soft-skills trainings: January 28, February 4, February 11, February 25, March 4, March 11, March 18, March 25, April 1, April 8, and April 15 from 1:30 – 5:00 PM (in-person at partner office locations).
- Mentee check-ins: February 13, March 20, and April 17 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM (online).
- Closing Event: Tuesday, April 22, 3:00 – 6:00 PM (in-person).
- Travel expenses for all in-person events will be reimbursed.
Selection Process:
A selection procedure will be conducted for this program, as only a limited number of spots are available. In total, a maximum of 15 talents will be selected. The deadline for applications is Friday, December 6, at 12:00 PM (noon). Be sure to attach your CV to your profile. Once you have applied and meet the criteria, you will receive a Google form to provide additional information for selection.
