Talent Interview for Medior IT Platform Engineer (Software Engineer)
We are looking for a developer with experience as an IT Platform Engineer who is proficient in Python programming. You will handle the entire process: from design and build to testing and automated delivery.
About ABN AMRO
At ABN AMRO, we are working on a better bank for future generations. We consider equal opportunities for everyone to be very important. We want to be a place where everyone feels heard and valued. Our vision is to be a personal bank in a digital world. To achieve this, we need new ideas from people with diverse backgrounds. You will be working at Platforms & Technology (P&T) within the Data & Analytics Platform team. P&T is ABN AMRO's internal IT service provider. We ensure a modern and future-proof IT environment. With our self-service platforms, teams within the bank can quickly and independently build new functionalities and IT solutions.
Your role
As an IT Platform Engineer, you will help build and improve the Enterprise Data Lake (the central platform for data and data analysis). You will ensure that this platform operates quickly, reliably, and securely. You will work closely with developers, system administrators, and security experts. Together, you will ensure that colleagues within the bank can work with data easily and securely. We are specifically looking for a software engineer (not a data engineer).
What are you going to do?
- Actively contribute to development and provide practical leadership in the design and programming of software.
- Teams help build solutions and define standards together, while the team itself remains the owner.
- Thinking platform-wide about reliability (resilience), preventing recurring problems, and long-term quality.
- Coordinating complex technical tasks and investigations between different teams.
- Ensuring a good balance between a long-term vision and practical delivery, without making things unnecessarily complicated.
- Encouraging the responsible and smart use of AI tools in programming.
Who are you?
- You have a valid residence permit or receive temporary EU protection (like Ukrainians)
- You have at least 4 years of work experience as a software/platform engineer or in a similar IT role (please note: this is not a data engineer role).
- Python & Data: Strong knowledge of Python. Experience with (or knowledge of) Databricks and Unity Catalog is a plus.
- Automation & CI/CD: Experience with setting up and maintaining automated test and deployment pipelines (CI/CD) .
- Cloud & Infrastructure: Experience with cloud technology (preferably Microsoft Azure) and designing IT infrastructure that always keeps working.
- Collaboration: Good communication skills; you are a true team player who enjoys sharing knowledge.
- You have a B2+ level of English proficiency.
