Junior Sustainable Energy Drafter – Development Track

Are you an ambitious Junior Electrical Draftsman eager to learn what it's like to work for a dynamic system integrator like Equans? Equans is looking for an enterprising and proactive professional who can progress to Junior Engineer after two years.

About Equans

 Equans offers technical solutions for areas such as energy, climate, and digital systems. They help organizations design, install, maintain, and improve systems like heat pumps, solar energy, and charging infrastructure. This helps companies and institutions make their buildings and processes more sustainable and efficient.

What does a Sustainable Energy Draftsman do?

 As a draftsman, you play a key role within the project team. You're the link between the design and implementation phases, collaborating with a senior engineer, project managers, and structural engineers. Your electrical drawings ensure quality and clarity throughout the project: from voltage distribution (low and high voltage) to circuit diagrams and floor plans.

  •  creating (specification) drawings, design drawings, principle diagrams, detailed drawings, etc. based on specifications, designs and other information;
  •  providing technical information to support the design;
  •  making proposals for adjustments to the design;
  •  providing verbal detailed information to the engineer and the contractors, possibly followed by completed drawings;
  •  systematically organizing project documents and drawings in an (electronic) archive that is also accessible to others.

Growth opportunities

  •  Year 1: You'll gain a deeper understanding of the art of drawing and Equans. You'll earn the necessary certificates, there's room to improve your Dutch language skills, and you'll develop your skills through projects.
  •  Year 2: You'll progress to Senior Draftsman: there's more depth, more independence, and you'll explore the possibilities of learning and potentially taking over tasks from other project team members.
  •  Year 3: You'll progress to Junior Engineer: you'll be responsible for designs, calculations, and overseeing the delivery of (sub)projects in progress. Best of all, you'll be a buddy for the new Junior Technical Draftsman :)

Skills needed for success

  •  You learn on the job: this means a proactive attitude (asking questions, listening well, working together)
  •  You deliver quality: this means that you pay attention to detail, plan well and work accurately.
  •  You work independently in a team: this means that you consult with the project team every day about what work needs to be done, but that you translate this into what this means for you and how you contribute to the end result.
  •  You can adapt as needed. Equans is a service provider, which means you need to be able to handle changing customer needs effectively: deadlines, last-minute adjustments, and project accelerations or delays are all part of your workday.
  •  You are of course very adept at digital engineering: Autocad holds no secrets and you can quickly grasp new software.

What do we expect from you?

  •  You have a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (or similar) and are at the beginning of your career;
  •  You have a valid status / work permit;
  •  You have a minimum command of Dutch and English at B2 level;
  •  You are available full time from November/December 2025

Important information

  •  Contract: One-year contract with salary, followed by an extension for another year or a permanent contract. This depends on your performance and workload (economic circumstances, workload, and clients).
  •  Location: Zaandam
