Job opportunities at IKEA Utrecht

Through Skills for Employment, IKEA offers people with a refugee background the opportunity to gain work experience in the Netherlands and to get to know IKEA Utrecht as an employer. You start in a paid job (minimum 8 hours per week, maximum 24 hours per week) at IKEA Utrecht in 1 permanent department (Sales, Food or Logistics). You also work on your professional development such as professional language training and your next career step.
Practical issues
What can you expect from the Skills for Employment programme?
- 1 year contract with a trial period of 2 months
- You can choose one fixed day off (from Monday to Thursday)
- You will follow professional language training (2 hours per week) for three months
- Intensive guidance on the work floor, including your own buddy and mentor
We are looking for you!
For Skills for Employment we are looking for the candidate profile below:
- You have refugee status
- You live in Utrecht (or surroundings)
- You want to get to know IKEA as an employer and have the ambition to work in the store
- You have a language level of Dutch A2 or fluent English
- You are available 8 to 24 hours a week. Working days and times in consultation. NB; you also regularly work evenings and weekends
- You have a practical background. IKEA is looking for participants who would like to work in the retail sector and know how to tackle it. Retail experience is an advantage
- You like (light) physical work. IKEA is a large store, so as a participant you will walk a lot and will sometimes do (light) physical work such as moving a sofa, hanging a painting or collecting orders.
