Engineer at Liander - via traineeship at Talent voor Transitie
Divers Energy Talent is a program of Talent for Transition and Refugee Talent Hub, for energy professionals with a refugee background. You will be employed by Talent for Transition, follow a 2-year development program and be linked to leading companies that are shaping the energy transition in the Netherlands. In this case it is Liander: you will work as an Electrical Engineer at Liander. The intention is that you will receive a contract from Liander afterwards (or earlier, for example after 1 year).
Liander
In this role you are responsible for the preparation and design up to and including delivery of infrastructural energy projects in the region. Examples of projects are: a residential and office tower that must be connected to the electricity network, the widening of a highway where cables and pipes must be relocated or a solar park that must be connected to the existing energy network.
You solve customer issues by providing the best advice and options for complex expansions and replacements. This allows you to build the energy grid of the future. You do this in a team of Project Managers, Executors, a Project Coordinator and a contractor.
This is how you contribute to the energy of today and tomorrow:
- You analyze all application data from the projects and create a detailed draft work plan/design;
- You perform calculations and regularly visit the project location to get a good idea of the project;
- You make plans and are responsible for requesting the necessary documentation. For example: traffic plans, permits, asbestos and soil research and business law;
- You order the necessary materials and make calculations about the expected costs;
- You consult with internal and external parties about the plans you have made.
During the project you identify bottlenecks in a timely manner and come up with creative practical solutions. You are also responsible for the administration of the projects; that's almost as important as the project itself.
**An Engineer Elektra from Liander is: **
- curious and energetic;
- initiative, coordination, communication skills, problem solving;
- able to take responsibility for projects (activities include translating wishes/requirements into concrete plans, consultation with the client and executors, conducting research);
- motivated to contribute to a sustainable, fossil-free future.
