This program is specially designed to empower women with a refugee background in taking confident steps toward the Dutch job market and finding sustainable employment. During this program, you will be paired 1-on-1 with an experienced professional from IKEA who will serve as your mentor for five months. Together, you will work on your professional development, expand your network, and build confidence in navigating your career in the Netherlands.

About the Mentor Program

Over five months, you will be paired 1-on-1 with a mentor from IKEA. Together, you will work on building your career in the Netherlands. Your mentor will share their experience, skills, and professional network, offer personal guidance, and help answer your questions about navigating the Dutch job market.

Mentorship here goes both ways. Equality and mutual learning are at the heart of this program. While your mentor shares practical career advice, they will also learn from your unique background and perspective. Beyond reaching your career goals, these meetings are a chance to connect, share cultures, and learn from one another.

What do we expect from you?

Criteria for Participation:

• You hold a valid residence permit or W-document.
• You have a good command of English (at least B1 level).
• You are highly motivated to participate, committed to attending all mandatory program activities, and able to meet with your mentor weekly (or at least twice per month).
• You have an open, proactive, and curious mindset, eager to learn and share insights with your mentor.
• Attendance at all central events is mandatory (a maximum of 1 absence is permitted).
• You have access to a computer (with a camera) and a stable internet connection for online video check-ins.
• Preference is given to candidates residing in the Netherlands who are able to attend in-person events at IKEA (travel costs fully reimbursed).
